What is NSLIY?
NSLIY or The National Security Language Initiative for Youth is a state department funded organization that sends high school kids to other countries to study foreign languages! So far, the program includes 8 languages in roughly 15 countries. The initiative of the program is to revitalize what the state department calls "critical languages", languages that they are worried about dying out in youth today. With over a decade of experience under its belt, NSLIY has been a goal and inspiration to many American kids, including me :)
